Malia is located 34km east of Heraklion, on the road to Agios Nikolaos. The main street looks like it divides the city in two, the old town of Malia at the foot of Mount Selena and the newer part of town near the coastline. Malia is an unusual small town, the same is not found anywhere else in Crete. It used to be known for their delicious fries. The years passed tourists began arriving in Crete and fields of Malia gave way to small and large hotels, restaurants and bars. Filled with bars, clubs, cafes, English and Irish pubs, fast-food serving kebabs and pizzas, the New Malia is for those who want to go out at night and have a good time .

If you visit this place in the morning you will not see a soul. Most young people are asleep at the time, either on the beaches or in their beds. At 11 you will see the first tourists heading for the beaches. Later in the afternoon and evening, this road is the busiest in Malia, after partying and drinking liquor give and take even middle of the road , which of course closed to traffic every evening.
